Crafting Changes

Crafting on Vail is classic Mondain's Legacy with a few boosts, and every recipe in the game can be obtained.

Exceptional bonuses

Smithing at a glance

  • Each coloured ingot adds its own resists to armor and its own damage types to weapons. Mix metals to balance your resists. For example, verite and agapite add fire resist, and bronze adds cold.
  • Exceptional chance is your success chance minus a penalty that shrinks from 60% to 45% as you go from 95 to 100 skill.
  • Bulk order deeds reward runic hammers and ancient smithy hammers. An ancient hammer's skill bonus applies while it's equipped, so you can hold one while crafting with a runic hammer from your pack.

Clothing

Classic crafted clothing (except hats) has no properties. On Vail, tailors at 90 skill can make boss garments with fixed stats for every clothing slot.

Jewelry

Crafted rings and bracelets are cosmetic, as in classic UO. Magic jewelry comes from loot, or from the three rare tinkering recipes (see Rare recipes).

Recipes

  • Normal recipes come from the crafting quests in Heartwood, as on OSI.
  • Rare recipes (all 18) drop from the peerless bosses.
  • Every crafting ingredient in the game has a source on Vail.
